Not conclusive.
The home of Cheddar cheese is a town called Cheddar or Chedder in Somerset, England.
The most common spelling is ‘Cheddar’ but I have a receipt from the caves (August 2005) which clearly prints the name of the caves and the town as ‘Chedder’. The current AA map shows it as ‘Cheddar’. I will settle for ‘Cheddar’.
