Customer service???

August 07, 2002 | Comments 0 Comments

This article: Customer Experience Meets Online Marketing at Brand Central Station - got me thinking about customer service on the web and in general.
It’s my opinion that customer service in general is a thing of the past. There are exceptions but for the most part pretty much any in-depth interaction I’ve had with any large company has been downright horrible. The little guys do it right, they take the time to interact with you personally and technology will never be able to replace that. Although, I have come across Web sites and automated phone systems that are actually more helpful than the people that work the phones. I sometimes wonder how important it is for companies to make a personal connection with their customers, I think that the financial bottom line is more important and in this age of information, do-it-yourself customer service is the way to go. Hopefully this won’t last forever.

Sometimes I would just like to hear a nice friendly voice, you know?

Oh and Sprint, “Claire” doesn’t cut it.
