Classification explained...kinda.

September 02, 2002 | Comments 0 Comments

Gerry McGovern explains how to classify content in his latest issue of New Thinking.

While it might be a bit light, it’s a quick read that points out some very good tips. In fact, I wish I would have read this a week or so ago, before we got too far into our intranet re-information architecture (is that the way you’d say it? hmmm.) - we spent so much time on labeling, which could be looked at as another way of saying classification (at least the way we were labeling things - semantics again) - I think we might have avoided some small problems if we’d taken some of this advice.

Eh - it’s a learning process.

As Gerry says here - “Classification is not something that you can master in a weekend. It will take you years to become expert at classification.”

Amen brother.
