I don't know jack about typography.

Found a nice site in snowsuit.net. He has a couple posts that I’d love to comment on or link to, but it seems that functionality is missing. Oh well, it’s a very nice site anyway.

His latest post talks about typography being his “star wars” and how he is a “font geek” - it got me to thinking. Outside of the basics I have a really hard time telling one font from another, let alone being able to break down kerning and all that. I know what I think looks good, and that is about it. I think I do ok - and I guess if I spent some time and effort could become a “font geek” - I mean, I love words, especially words in motion, it would stand to reason I’d want to know more about typography. And I do.

I do ocassionally try to get my mind around the whole thing. I head over to Mark Simonson Studio, read about Proxima Sans and The Scourage of Arial. Things like that.

There’s just too much to learn and for some reason I have a bit of a mental block when it comes to the perticulars of typography. Maybe one day it’ll all click.
