Invest in people.

As Gerry McGovern aptly points out, the best content management system can and will fail with out the proper people in place to run the system and manage the content. I see evidence of this everyday. So many expectations have been placed on CMS and other “cure alls” that some of them are bound to fail. And McGovern is spot on here - it’s the people that need to be invested in, not the IT system, in order for an organization to benefit from them. One of the biggest take aways from my usability studies is that 9 times out of 10 - the actual content is the largest problem. Not the interface, not the system and not the design.
This is one of the reasons I started this log - to improve my writing skills as well as explore and hopefully implement the ideas involved with creating quality Web content.
