Mr. Lif's I Phantom

November 08, 2002 | Comments Closed

I’ve been bumpin’ I Phantom, a hip-hop concept album in the vein of the truly classic Prince Among Thieves for the last few weeks.

It doesn’t have the epic story or celeb guest appearances of Thieves, instead it kicks a solid story about an American Dream gone wrong - or right. It’s also backed by some of the craziest beats and vocal delivery this side of Automator and The Funky Homosapien.
If you’re into hip hop both the above albums are must-haves. I Phantom has a fairly interesting story running though it, but, like Prince Among Thieves, has lots of great cuts that stand alone and out of context from the rest. Return of the B-boy being my favorite love the trip-hop-ish finalize and the rhymes, so sweet. I’ll have to post that up on the jukebox over at the Flash site - or heck, maybe I’ll add a little jukebox to Asterisk* - aural pleasure for your head.
