More on Safari and other Apple related treats.

I’m making this post from Safari and already the biggest thing I notice from my normal browsing experience is the lack of tabs that I have with Chimera. A big downer if you ask me. Tabbed browsing, as I’m sure lots would agree, is huge. A few other observations:

Most sites seem to render fairly well, there are a few small things I’ve noticed with my own site, and a few others. I’m sure most of these could be worked around and we need to keep in mind that this is the first day of a beta release.

However, I can do a few things with Safari that I can’t do with Chimera, like get into my e-mail with Microsoft Outlook Web Access — something I used to have to rely on IE for. DOM support.

Overall I like it alot. It has some nice features like the SnapBack and Feedback features as well as it’s handling of favorites and bookmarks. And it’s really fast. If Safari had tabbed browsing I’d consider making it my default, for now I’ll be replacing IE with it at second fiddle.

I was informed of a few other Apple related toys today:

First off, did ya see the new 17-inch PowerBook?? Yeow! Drool. Drool.

Next is the iRock Wireless FM Transmitter. With this I can listen to the iPod in my car, Staci’s car, my living room, my bedroom, my bathroom — pretty much anywhere and pretty damn cool if you ask me. Cheap too.

And last, but not least, and not really last either — is the Burton Amp. Billed as the “first and only jacket with a sound and control system for your iPod.” This is really, really cool — you have to see it. It might be a bit spendy, but that really depends on the quality of the jacket. I know if I hadn’t just bought a new jacket for riding I’d be thinking long and hard about getting one.

Between the Amp and the new PowerBook I’m having a serious case of buyer’s remorse today.
