Tabbed Browsing in Safari.

February 24, 2003 | Comments 1 Comments

So the people wanted tabbed browsing in Safari and that is what the people are going to get. How do I know? Because I’ve seen it! I got an e-mail today with the particulars, you want to read it? Here it goes:

Here is a nice surprise for you… Tabbed Browsing in Safari! This is the latest build from Apple, version 0.9 (If you have the most current available version you’re at 0.8.2).

In this version is Tabbed Browsing and Autofill, but you have to turn it on via the Debug menu.

First go and get Safari build 62. I’ll leave it to you to figure out where to look for it, but it’s easy enough to find (for now). You may want to rename your old version of Safari, just in case, for compatibility. Then make sure all versions of Safari are closed. Open up Terminal and type the following:

defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

Then launch Safari. You’ll see a menu called Debug, select Tabbed Browsing and off you go. To turn off the debug menu, type the same line, but with a 0 at the end instead of a 1.

That’s it. So far what (very little as I don’t have it myself) I’ve seen looks and works pretty darn good.

How to undo Tabbed browsing feature.

Webcam images used to refresh autmatically when using Safari V60. Utilized the above Terminal command for Tabbed browsing in Safari., images don’t refresh in V62 and now in V60. Tabbed browsing is working.

what to do?
