ABC's Miracles

So I’ve been watching Miracles for the last few weeks on Monday night. Great show, if a wee bit cheesy at times. It’s a bit like X-files with a spiritual slash horror movie bent, in other words, right up my alley.
Skeet Ulrich plays the main character, Paul Callan, a young man working for the Vatican investigating miracles. After a series of strange, and pretty darn creepy events, he leaves the church to work for a bit more arcane group of investigators. I think this has been done before, but I can’t recall the name of the movie at the moment. Anyway, I like the idea, even if it’s not 100% original.
It’s only three shows in but so far so good. I don’t watch to much TV (can you blame me — Married by America? Enough said) aside from sports, Cartoon Network and Comedy Central, but Miracles is one I’ll try my best to catch.
Tonight’s episode simply gave me the willies. Gotta love that.

Great television for me means trying to find shows that examine the corners of life most television either tries desperately to avoid, or plays up for all the weepy, sappy sentiment possible.
For a few years in the late ’90s, the show ‘Millennium’ fit the bill nicely. Labled as “Touched by a Devil”, the show had anasty reputation for darkness and almost unwatchable horror. I felt these elements were used as devices to accentuate what was good about life. Very few people saw it that way, apparently. The Fox Network canned it after three years, just long enough to allow their good buddy Cris Carter, creater of the X-Files, to rake in the cash through syndication.
Oh, well.
And now we have Miracles. Skeet Ulrich’s character has seen numerous frauds in his career. It could be said that he now sees only darkness and the hint of Evil. I contend that, like Millennium, Miracles is trying to show the brightness by contrasting it against the darkness. Last week’s episode with the little girl is the best example so far. In the end, the episode wasn’t about the body count and the near deaths of crowds of people. It was about the love of a mother for her long-dead little girl, and her ability to finally cope with her loss.
Beautiful.
There may still be some cheese for the show’s writers to squeeze out of the scripts, but I like the path this show is treading. Maybe this time the light will be more noticable for the darkness surrounding it.

It’s almost impossible for my husband and I to find a show we both truely enjoy and “Miracles” gave that to us. What happened? The show didn’t even get a chance! I kept trying to get my friends to watch and they could never see it because it didn’t come on when it was supposed to. How is word of mouth about a good show supposed to spead if the good show is gone before the word gets out!? I think it needs to come back, or give it to someone who knows a good thing when they have it and will give it a chance!!!!!!!!

“Miracles” is a fantastic show. Compared to all those other crazy T.V. shows its the best! They have all these different, weird, and crazy shows for people who are, lets just say, down to earth. Well, what about those other people who like the scary, and mysterious stuff. I’m one of those people! “Miracles” was the only show I would watch. It was only on for 6 weeks, at the most. They didn’t even give it a chance. Why they took it off, I’m clueless, but what I do know is that it was a great show. I don’t care what anyone says. BRING BACK “MIRACLES”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miracles is a show that picks up the slack when the X-Files left the airwaves. I could only imagine the success this show would have gotten if it was only given a chance. Who doesn’t like ghost stories after all? It’s just too bad that ABC, with whatever misguided reasoning it used, decided to pull a show with this much potential. Well, I guess they figured there was more money to be made concentrating on their slew of dumbed-down sitcoms. It’s a shame that a smart show like Miracles was considered a longshot for them. I think perhaps it was the religious theme that brought too much attention from conservative right-wingers who felt it was a poor portrayal of Christian values. Or maybe it was ABC’s oversensitivity of world events in the face of Islamic/Judaic/Christian tensions. In any case, they made a poor choice in dropping this show. I hope next season they give it another shot, but I know there’s probably little chance of that…

My husband and I were soooo disappointed when Miracles was cancelled. Finally a show that had some intelligence and real meaning for the both of us. It is sad for anyone who thinks reality tv is so “REAL” and gets top billing above a really good tv show. I hope abc gets plenty of complaints about this huge mistake that they have made and bring it back next season. Or maybe a cable network could pick “Miracles” up, Scifi for instance. I think that it might have a better venue there. Anyway, I was really looking forward to more shows like this. (AFTERALL, THEY CANCELLED MY OTHER FAVORITE SHOW, WITCHBLADE, I HAVE LITTLE FAITH IN TV LATELY.)

What Happened?!!!! Are people so brain washed by these idiotic “reality tv shows” that they can’t recognize a GREAT tv show when they see it? “Miracles” was one of the best TV shows out there, in my opinion. Not only did it have a good story line(not the most original one, but still good), but they had Skeet Ulrich, one of my favorite actors. I was a loyal watcher of the show, although it was on for what? 6 weeks? They didn’t even give it a freakin’ chance! There are very few good TV shows out there today, and when they do get a good one they ditch it. Hey ABC, how about ditching some of those stupid reality TV shows you have AND BRING BACK “MIRACLES”!!!!!

Miracles is back on TV in Australia and soon to be in Canada! This is great news for the campaign because the more people we can educate about the show, the better it is for us stuck in the States! We want to see the complete first season, and we want more of the story after that! This is a EVER PROGRESSING storyline that you cannot simply end halfway or even a 1/3 through the story. It’s not right for the viewers and it’s not right for the show! So everybody, keep up the faith and we will eventually get our show back!
Be sure to visit the Trio! Network’s website, as they are “seriously considering” picking up the show as part of their “Brilliant but Cancelled” line-up for 2004. (http://www.triotv.com)
Also, click on my name to be redirected to the Miracles Message Board on ezBoard! Go there and have your voice heard by the other hundreds of Miracles fans!! Enjoy! =D

despite the fact that know will read this i really think that Miracles is one of the greatest shows that has been seen on television set. It was very imaginative and actually made a person think. It was just a great show. Obviously TV doesn’t want a show to enlight the mind just occupy it with what we have now.I greatly respected and really appreciate that there was finally a show that had some meaning and was very interesting and full of imagintion.
Thanks for giving the experience that finally i saw something great on TV.

The war blew any chance for a great show like ABC’s Miracles from getting off the ground. ABC should have run the episodes again to really test the market.ABC acted stupidly and was too impatient and unwilling to wait for results. I hope I can find this show back on a cable channel somewhere soon.
