There are many out there, myself included at first, that will say that AFI sold out. What happened to the hardcore punk passion? Well, put simply, they didn’t sell out, they grew up. Going back and listening to some of their old stuff you can see this coming. They’ve always had a little goth and a little pop in their punk, now they have a little punk in their goth-pop. I look at this album as a great maturation of a great band, but at the same time I can feel from those who would rather they’d stayed to their hardcore roots. The old AFI is gone for the most part, there are a few cuts on Sing The Sorrow that have a bit of that old mosh-pit style sound. Dancing Through Sunday, this weeks song, being one of them.
It’s different, yes, but very good in it’s own right. I’m not sure I’d recommend this to the hardcore (pun intended) AFI fan, but those fond of good, introspective pop that can still kick you in the teeth occassionally will enjoy this one. As, I’m sure, will many long time AFI fans.

i love the old AFI….but like the artical said they havent sold out they have just matured. but i mean they have changed in each cd just a little, this one more than the rest. but there was always that sence of something being different. They are still my favorite band and they still kick major ass!!!!!

goth pop come on people afi is the greatest hardcore/punk band and should be respected many people say that afi is not wanted by people but those people are stupid because afi is the best band out there cause they follow miseries and poems such as deaths followed by dreams. unlike other bands that have no meaning but afi will take over
