The Artist: The Jeff Lash Trio
The Song: Say It Ain’t So
The Album: The Jeff Lash Trio Demos
Released 2003
This week we are going to change it up a bit and go even more mellow. The weeks song is a terrific cover of Say It Ain’t So, originally done by Weezer, now redone by the multitalented Jeff Lash and The Jeff Lash trio.
Their stuff is very mellow, sort of jazzy, yet funky, original and soothing all at the same time. To describe it as jazz would be to simple, there are elements of rock, reggae and lots more in there. It’s great music to code by, and yet I can imagine it setting the stage for a great evening out as well. Jeff’s mastery of the little heard (at least in my world) vibraphone is obvious, yet even someone with untrained ears can dig it.
Cool stuff.

Glad y’all like it! There’s more to come!
Josh - I’ll have to check into that stuff. I imagine I can locate it, but thanks for the offer. I don’t use much peer-to-peer. On my Mac nothing seems to work very well…so…

Thanks everyone, glad you like my stuff.
If anyone wants to put it on Kaaza or any similar services, go right ahead! I’m not planning on selling or “officially” releasing any of these MP3s, so go ahead and do whatever you want with them.
If you like the vibes and are looking for some other (better) players, check out the aforementioned Cal Tjader, Bobby Hutcherson, Milt Jackson, Gary Burton, Steve Nelson, and a whole bunch of other people whose names I can’t think of.
If you like this style of music, check out artists like Charlie Hunter, Stanton Moore, Brad Mehldau, The Bad Plus, Medeski Martin Wood…
