Agenda Suicide by The FaintThe Artist: The Faint
The Song: Agenda Suicide
The Album: Danse Macabre
Released 2001

I love The Faint. Growing up in the 80’s and being a DJ all through high school you can imagine I have a soft spot for industrial, wave and synth pop. Bands like the Cure, Depeche Mode, Ministry, Soft Cell and Cabaret Voltaire got me through my awkward years and although I’ve moved on I still resurrect that stuff every so often.

When I caught wind of the electroclash movement I was a bit skeptical, and to tell the truth most of what comes out of that movement, while good, doesn’t live up to the original synth pop of the 80’s and early 90’s. Not so The Faint. These guys do it right. The funny thing is, I’d heard them before and was a fan of their alt-rock album, media. Boy have things change since then.

Danse Macabre is a classic, as good as any other synth pop or wave I’ve heard and this week’s song “Agenda Suicide” brings everything The Faint have to offer. If you like it, buy the album and check out the video, it’s killer.

Recommended if you like: Depeche Mode, Red Flag, The Cure, Hot Hot Heat, New Order, Felix Da Housecat
