Extending Movable Type Beyond The Blog

July 15, 2003 2 | Comments (Closed)

Matthew Haughey published a great article about using Movable Type not only to expand tradional blogs, but to use MT for things outside the realm of blogs. I’ve had some experience in this as well, and his article is a great, accessible resource for folks who’d like to explore using MT in an a more “out of the box” way.

I’m pretty impressed by the scope of that piece. It goes quite a ways beyond what I’ve figured out with my own blundering around. Much experimenting will happen with MB in the next little while.

We’ve been discussing the very same topic over at HYCW, only not nearly as eloquent nor as thorough as Matthew H.

Still, through the use of learning the template language sideways, and code-monkeying tons-o-custom-plug-ins, we smithed MT into a CMS for http://www.redlandbaptist.org.

All the menus, in fact all navigation, along with all the articles, all MT posts. All dynamic.
