Netscape Is No More.

July 15, 2003 | Comments 0 Comments

The inevitable has happened. Netscape is done.

Simon Willison had a comment that stuck with me:

Now more than ever, the web standards movement needs to make itself heard. With Netscape dead, less enlightened web developers may be tempted to drop all presences at cross browser compatibility and go back to targeting Internet Explorer.

I can’t agree more. It looks like Mozilla is going to continue and with Microsoft not making any major changes to IE for what seems like will be quite a long time the focus on Web standards needs to stay strong, other wise Dave’s bleak but totally hilarious (in that Darwin Award way) prediction will come true.
