Some Quick Links and Thoughts

July 14, 2003 | Comments 1 Comments

Been a lot on my mind last few days, it’s much too hectic for summertime! First off, I want to give much thanks to everyone for the great comments and mail on Asterisk’s first year, you’re the best.  Ok, that’s enough about me, here are a few quick hits to things going on around and about the Web.

Jakob talks about Why PDFs are only good for printing.  Can’t say I disagree with him.  Unfortunately, lots of times there is no other real option.

Gerry McGovern, who is going to be in Seattle this week, has the scoop on Measuring your web content management processes.

A couple of good standards based sites have popped up.  Check out the Phish site, done by the amazing Chopping Block, and Adrian Holovaty’s work on the Lawrence weather site.  Great work.

Got a few requests to place ads my site.  Not sure what I feel about this, but for now  I’m with Matt.

Tom Gilder is looking ahead to CSS3.  Me too.

PPK fills in the latest on the browser wars.

As far as non Web stuff goes, I’ve got one big thing.  If you’ve not seen Pirates of the Caribbean, I suggest you step away from the computer and do so, it’s the best movie to come out in a long, long time.

I think that donotemail.gov would be great. I just like everyone else am tired of getting all of this junk mail. I happened to be searching for something to assist me with all of the spam that I get and ran across your website. I think that the Federal Government is working on this issue. Let’s see waht happens.
