SOW: Bloodletting by The HauntedThe Artist: The Haunted
The Song: Bloodletting
The Album: One Kill Wonder
Released 2003

This week’s song is not for the faint of heart. The Haunted are a heavy in almost every sense of the word. This is true, classic, in-your-face, talkin’-to-the-devil, thrash metal.

Formed in 1998 from the remnants of At The Gates, The Haunted are the best the genre has to offer. They are flawless technically, and classicaly creative. Immediately calling to mind early Metallica mixed with a huge dash of Slayer, and while Metallica has faded away and Slayer is well…Slayer, The Haunted transcend both their influences to produce the best thrash metal out there right now. Almost as good as both those bands in their prime.

One Kill Wonder is a great album. All the songs are tight, loud, fast and heavy. Like a chainsaw to the eardrums. It’s not their best album in my opinion, but worth a listen for every fan of thrash, metal or good loud rock. If you like this one check out their previous release, The Haunted Made Me Do It, which I think is a tad bit better than this one.

Recommended if you like: Slayer, Early Metallica, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, At The Gates
