This week’s song comes from another great Seattle (well partly anyway) act. Much like The Divorce, the collaboration between Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard and Dntel’s Jimmy Tamborello, The Postal Service, gives a healthy nod to the 80’s.
Where The Divorce has a kind of Public Image Ltd. thing going, The Postal Service reminds me quite a bit of one of my favorite 80’s acts: OMD. Especially their early stuff. I get the same feeling I did when I first heard Dazzle Ships years ago.
It’s so light and fresh it just feels like springtime in the room when Give Up is playing. Tamborello’s production and sound-smithings are truly unique and the lyrics could carry the album all by themselves. I chose “Nothing Better” as this weeks song, not only because it’s one of my favorites, but because of the story it tells and the clever arrangement of lyrics and beats.
If you are looking to lighten your mood or want some tunes to put on a mixed tape for your lover, this is the album you need.

Immediatly brought a tear to my eye and made me wish that I could turn back time and correct my mistakes before they happened. postal service is totaly awesome they rock my face off….they are one of the few soft bands who i like a whole lot they definatally inspire me to do the robot or get good at the keyboard but thay are totally fresh.
