Afterlife

Afterlife is a good example of audience appropriate Flash work. It’s a very beautifully designed site, that’s not over-done and presented in way that is very appealing. I would imagine that based on it’s visual nature and the fact that it is an art-based photographic essay the choice of Flash as a delivery method was a well thought-out one.
This site could have been done with HTML and it still would have been great, but based on the simplicity of the animation and the cleanness of the design I think Flash was a good choice for this site.

I Agree. Afterlife is just brilliant in the mood it conveys, and the subtlety in the photographic manipulations are eerily effective!

The site is superb, but what if someone doesn’t have the plugin installed. It would be great if this would be a HTML site and _if_ the plugin is installed, the img elements would be replaced by object tags, so _everybody_ would have a seemless experience.
I think animating the pictures of a photographers portfolio is really a great idea. Flash is used in the right way here, because it can intensify the mood of the pictures and bring them to life. I have seen so many other flash based photographers sites where the only difference was basically the transition effects of the pictures and the navigation. I must think of that in the future.
