Napster's Flash Animations

October 20, 2003 2 | Comments (Closed)

There can be no doubt that when it comes to animations and comedic shorts Flash is an excellent development tool. With it’s upcoming relaunch (rebirth) Napster choose to deliver some non-essential content with Flash, in their “bits” section.

The reason why I think this is great is because they’ve placed their animations, and some other none essentials, in a separate section unto itself. That way folks can, if they so choose, view their animations, which are quite entertaining and do a good job of reflecting Napster’s personality, without having to have them bar their way to essential content.

This is how I see the old school “Flash intro” being best delivered. There can be a place for fun Flash animations, just look at the success of Homestarrunner.com, as long as they don’t get in the way of other, more essential content and tasks.

Yes! I fully agree. Here the flash animations have a real purpose. The content they deliver is best served in such a separate section. I see this and other animations, probably for educational purposes. as the real purpose of flash.

Great idea for a site by the way.
