ReUSEIT Contest Deadline Approaching

October 21, 2003 | Comments 14 Comments

There’s just ten days left to submit your redesign of Jakob Nielsen’s USEIT. For those of you who don’t already know, the ReUSEIT contest is:

to borrow a quote from the W3Remix contest, “a design challenge for coders, and a coding challenge for designers.” Here’s the idea: create a redesign of Jakob Nielsen’s useit.com. Design a usable, intuitive layout and navigation, organize the content with usability in mind, and create a work of art which still reflects the importance and influence of Nielsen’s work.

Sounds like a fun challenge doesn’t it? Now if only we could rework his style and tone.

speaking of style and tone, i was reminded of your previous article on Nielsen when i was going through Joe Clark’s reply to this thread

choice quotes:
Yeah, if they actually worked, and if the *users* of such fonts had any
typographic knowledge or training. Since most of them are Windows users,
the chance of that is nil.
You can remedy this problem by beginning to learn about typography. You’ll
be production-ready approximately ten years later.

hmmm…i respect (most, not all) his ideas on accessibility…but he’s a pompous git nonetheless

Hmm. There must be at least one person in the world who is qualified as both a lumberjack and a proctologist. And that’s one redwood I don’t think any environmentalists are going to want to hug and/or live in….
