Editor In Chief of Digital Web

November 21, 2003 | Comments 8 Comments

I’ve been “promoted” — I’m using that term very loosely, it’s more like “picked because we don’t have anyone else!” — to Editor In Chief of Digital Web.

I know, you may be wondering, “Keith as Editor In Chief? He can hardly spell and there are so many mistakes on his own site…How in the hell?” Well, you’d be right in away. Asterisk* is very loosely edited, make no bones about it. How do you think I get so much content up? But never fear, I can spell and think I’ll do a good job in my new role. Not to mention I’m going to have lots of help. I’m not — thank goodness — the only one over there.

Anyway, I’m hoping this new role won’t effect too much my time spent here on Asterisk*. I don’t think it will, at least not in the long run. There may be a small dip as I learn and transition and as we try and get things back on track.

Speaking of that, Digital Web is looking for volunteers, specifically to help with my old role of Managing Editor, if anyone is interested.

Congrats. If nothing else it is an ultra-cool title to have.

By the way what does the Managing Editor role entail? I might be interested.

Thanks man.

As to what the Managing Editor role entails?

Lot’s of email. ;) Just kidding, it’s pretty much what it sounds like. Keeping everyone in the loop, moving articles through the editorial process, things like that.

As I’m not exactly sure what we’re going to do and what we actually need I’d suggest contacting Nick Finck via the Digital Web site.

Well I let him know so we will see how it goes. Why don’t you put in a good word for me ;)

Congratulations. Also I think you should put in a good word for Paul. He’s been doing good things with Whitespace and CSS Vault and obviously knows his stuff.

Congrats Keith. DW is in very good hands. I’d write an article for your first issue but well… you’ve read my site ;)

Hey thanks Andrew. I sent in my “application” through the comment form on Digital Web, but I haven’t heard anything back yet Keith. If I have been rejected from my first virtual job, could I at least get a rejection email to frame :)

Congratulations Keith! I’m sure under your leadership, DW will continue to flourish and to serve the web development community with great articles and insight. I hope this doesn’t mean that you’ll be neglecting your own site–your readers would be disappointed…
