The Artist: Blink 182
The Song: Feeling This
The Album: Blink 182
Released 2003
This isn’t your typical Blink 182 album, and yet it is. The first time I listened to it I thought I’d made some kind of mistake. It sounded a little bit like Blink musically, but quite a bit mellower and who is that singing? Robert Smith? WTF?
It’s true, Robert Smith from one of my all time favorite bands, The Cure, makes an appearance on an incredibly good, if some what strange Blink 182 album. To be honest, when I picked it up I was thinking it would be more of the same, you know, something like Take Off Your Pants and Jacket — but I was rather pleasantly surprised that this album is a bit different.
I think the first adjective that comes to mind is “mature.” The songs are more serious in sound as well as theme. It’s still power pop, but with a bit of an “aged” feel. In any case, I like it.
I’ve been a fan of Blink since before they broke it big and added the 182 to their name. Cheshire Cat is one of my favorite albums. What makes this latest release so nice is that it’s new and different, but there is still a bit of the good old Blink in there.
This is most noticeable in this week’s song “Feeling This.” I thought about going with one of the more different sounding songs on the album, but in the end I think I like this one the best.
Recommended if you like: New Found Glory, Pennywise, Green Day, NOFX, Brand New

Wow. I posted some thoughts about the album myself and it’s like we’re on the same wavelength. Expecting something similar to “Take off your pants…” but was surprised to hear a more mature band. Great review.

Loving the new album but also reccommend “the mark tom and travis show” I think it’s great their maturing and giving a good name to Punk.
I reccomend Incubus “A crow left of the murder”

I am one of the biggest blink 182 fans. They so totally rock… I have nearly got all their cds and dont intend to stop until I have them all. I would really like to meet blink 182 one day and think they should perform in Durban, South Africa, Africa…
Or even better, they should come to Kokstad, Kwa-Zulu Natal,South Africa, Africa…
Their music rock and I just adore Travis….
But I love them all…
