Asterisk* 2003 Top Ten Lists -- Music
December 27, 2003 9 | Comments (Closed)
Welcome to the first of a few Top Ten Lists I’ll be publishing in the next week or so. I’ve always loved these kinds of lists so I decided to subject you to my own.
It was tough choosing my top ten albums of the year, there was just so much good music to choose from. I was able to do it and you can see my choices below. Note that these are my favorite albums, I’m not necessarily saying they’re the best of 2003. They’re also in no particular order.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on my choices as well as have you tell me what your favorite music of 2003 was. Oh, and if you have a few extra holiday duckets burning a hole in you pocket, do yourself a favor and pick up one of these great releases.
My 10 Favorite Albums of 2003
- The Postal Service - Give Up - I think this was my favorite album of the year.
- Brand New - Deja Entendu - Smart, energetic emo-rock. A band to watch.
- The Divorce - There Will Be Blood Tonight - These guys just plain kick ass.
- Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Hearts of Oak - Reminds me of the way britpunk used to be.
- Rooney - Rooney - The perfect summer sing along album.
- Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 - Unique. Powerful. Emotional. Amazing.
- Death Cab For Cutie - Translantisism - Some of the best song writing I’ve ever heard.
- Placebo - Sleeping With Ghosts - Just kind of sticks with you. Amazing album from an amazing band.
- Idlewild - The Remote Part - Just ready to break it big. Excellent guitar pop.
- Mars Volta - De-loused in The Creamatorium - The most interesting album of the year. Very deep.

Deloused in the Comatorium is awesome. (Then again, with a name like Cedric Bixler, how could you not be cool?)

Who is “Rick” from 50 Cent’s “Get Rick or Die Tryin’”. Rick should be pretty scared for his life if you ask me. :P

I do love Jay-Z’s Black Album and I thought about it. I guess I’ve just not listened to it enough yet to become a favorite.

If The Mars Volta continues to put out De Loused in the Comatorium quality music, the industry could be looking at the best rock band to come out in a good, long while. I heard some of their new stuff at their concert at the Magness Arena in Denver. Volta fans… you will not be disappointed… their new shit is awesome too.
