Song of The Week and syndication?

December 04, 2003 | Comments Closed

Summary: Does the Song of The Week player contain syndicated music or do you require special permission to use it in your player?

From Egor Kloos

Well to be honest I don’t know if I’m supposed to have special permission or not. I don’t have any, and the songs are not syndicated in any way, if that helps answer your question.

At some point, years ago, I looked into the issues involved with this kind of streaming and figured that as long as I didn’t try to stream more than one song from any one album I’d be alright.

I look at it like me playing songs for friends like I would if I saw them in person. I’m not sharing out CDs or making tapes for people, just trying to turn them on to some new music. So far I’ve not heard any complaints and I don’t really expect to.

If you search for these artists in google my site usually comes up pretty high, and since I’m trying to help them by exposing their art to new people, I’d imagine most of them would appreciate what I’m doing. The few that I’ve heard from certainly do.
