Why the name Asterisk*?

December 02, 2003 | Comments Closed

Summary: Why the name Asterisk? Also, why do you include an asterisk after the name of your website? For example, one of the titles in the side bar is “Asterisk* Q & A and FAQs”. Is the asterisk a real part of the name?

From Ste and Alex

I’d recently been working on several multimedia art projects that involved asterisks so had them on the brain. I also wanted something that could work as an addition to my old 7nights site that I’d had for years.

As you might know that site is no more, but I’m not interested in getting a new domain at the moment.

I had initially just wanted to call the site “*” — you know like how Prince used to go by a symbol. But then I decided that it didn’t make much sense. I added and asterisk to the end of the name on a whim. I guess it’s part of the real name, but if someone wants to leave it out I don’t mind.
