Well, it was up at phark.typepad.com, but EMI’s nice lawyers sent me a nice email cordially inviting me to remove all instances of the album from my website lest I be sued and/or crucified.

Three Mikes in a row. Well done.
Anyways, I’ll see if I can find time to go grey today. Lots of images to grayscale, CSS to change. :P

Took me all of 10 minutes! The power of CSS. It’s amazing like that. I kind of like the grayscale…maybe I’ll keep it as an alternate or something.

Hmm… Didn’t take as long as I expected. Damn the man! *Fist in the air, Rage Against The Machine playing in the background.*

I actually like it a little too.
It would have taken a long time, but I made a Photoshop action to automate the grayscaling of the images. Used BBEdit’s search and replace to switch the images and CSS colors.

I guess I had it too easy. I’d already created a grey version for my 404 page, so now the whole site inherits it for a day. Took about 5 minutes to write the php to check the date for what css file to link to. I love technology when it actually makes things easier.

U must B blind. :-)
I had a thought: If someone already owns a copy of the White Album and the Black Album then is it still illegal for them to own a copy of the Grey Album? Because they already have the original music! Or is it considered a new and separate piece of ‘art’?

That’s an interesting point, Chris. I assume the industry will just adapt copyright to what works best for them (and makes the most money).
Wow, there was a Mark in there. I was very tired yesterday. ;) Sorry about that, Mark!

EMI can’t lose whatever happens. I’m sure a lot of people who hear this album will then want to go out and buy the originals.
