…turns out I prefer free music to Coke. Pepsi and iTunes make a great combination.
I’m 5 for 5 so far. Here’s what I’ve won:
- Drama Queen by The HorrorPops
- Toxic by Brittney Spears
- She Wants To Move by N.E.R.D.
- Yeah by Usher
- Black Jack Davey by The White Stripes
Some new stuff, a few very guilty pleasures. Cola never tasted so good.

Yeah, I have gotten 3 songs so far as well.
You know, if you think about it, the cost of a Pepsi 20oz. is actually more than if you were to just go to iTunes and pay .99 for the song.
Just a thought I had.

Dude … Brittney? Honestly? That’s not a ‘guilty pleasure’, that’s a ‘morally reprehensible, licentious, evil and just plain wrong pleasure’.

Yeah man, Toxic’s got some really cool beats. And that “racecar” sound is killer. Reee - eeerr, reeeee - eerr. Great dance track.
You’d be surprised at some of the stuff I like. I’m pretty open and give just about anything a shot.

Britney/Toxic = Linkin Park/Faint
The basslines seem very similar, mostly, but the similar digital-strings (or whatever they are) offer a bit of extra help too.
Anyway – as for iTunes: 0 for 4 on my end. So much for 1 in 3 wins… I guess I’m just unlucky. ;)

I was planning to comment on the “guilty pleasures” when I noticed that you acknowledged it already. I’m a rocker, but I’ll admit to falling for some rap now and then (I heard a song out there that used samples from Pac-Man and it just sounded tight).
I’ve won plenty of songs through the Pepsi deal, and I’ve managed to stick to my roots. Staind’s dedication to the late Alice In Chains lead singer Layne Staley, a few songs by Static-X (which I haven’t listened to in years), From Autumn to Ashes (angst metal at its finest), and many others.
It really is a sweet deal. Apple scored big on it, I’m sure (I have a lot of friends that now use the service on a regular basis, having been introduced to it via Pepsi).

Been reading * for quite sometime, figured I should comment :). I have gotten well over 100 songs via the iTMS and Pepsi’s overwhelming generosity. I’ve probably bought a total of 10 sodas since the campaign began, however many friends and family that do not care to use iTunes (mostly due to the fact that they do not own computers, or just don’t listen to music all that much) I have aquired the rest. Thanks Apple / Pepsi.

I’ve gotten about 5 or 6 songs now, too, without drinking a drop of Pepsi. (Where I live, Coke is ingrained from childhood on. Ordering any soda consists of asking for a “Coke”.) Early in the promotion, I discovered that 7-Eleven was running the promotion on Big Gulp cups (and 32 oz Slurpees apparently). Since I normally drink a few Big Gulps a week with lunch, I’ve been playing along but filling my cup with Coke. (The 7-Eleven near my office doesn’t have regular Big Gulp cups so I don’t feel bad filling it with Coke.)
For awhile, I was hitting the 1 in 3 rate steadily, but I don’t think I’ve gotten a single win in the last 6 drinks (over the last week and a half). I think someone (either the employees or students) is checking the cups and taking the winners! ;)

I’m up to 28 songs from the give away. I don’t drink that much Pepsi but the older gentleman who works the counter at the pharmacy downstairs from my office does and he just gives me the caps. Nice guy that one!

You can get iTunes/Pepsi songs cheaper than buying Pepsi or a single at the site. Look at this page: http://www.apple.com/itunes/pepsi/rules.html
In the third line: “No Purchase Necessary”.
“To receive one free game piece and a copy of Official Rules, while supplies last, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope postmarked on or before 3/31/04 to: Pepsi iTunes Game Piece, P.O. Box 9205, Young America, MN 55558-9205.”
Now, two stamps is cheaper than both a song at iTunes and a single Pepsi, so you could actually be better off writing for game pieces.
