Spring Blossoms

March 10, 2004 | Comments 11 Comments

Spring is here.

Very pretty right? The thing is — these were taken in my back “yard” and they are most likely the reason why I can hardly breathe or see in the morning. Damn allergies. Happens every year around this time.

Purple Petals.
Spring Blossoms.
Drops on a leaf.

Oh, the last one is definitely my favorite. I guess green has just tickled my fancy lately, usually I tend toward blue as a favorite color.

I’m terribly allergic to the pink ones. They were the bane of my existence in Springtime in Vancouver. Ugh! So pretty. So deathly!

On the other hand, I can’t wait to see the trees and flowers, here in New England, blooming.

Thanks for the spring preview, nice photos..

Where do you live that you’re seeing these already? I’m in the Boston area and can’t WAIT for my irises to come up…

I can’t recall the name, but I think that the name of that bitter, sad and unhappy orc was Grinch. And you, Keith, make me think of it :-P

I never used to get hayfever in Australia. But here in Japan, where there are dozens of pink and white cherry blossoms for revellers to get drunk on sake under every April, my eyes itch like crazy and my nose runs like a tap. I feel your pain.

Please tell me you have high-res versions of those. And please tell me that you either plan on posting those zipped here on your site or through mail to me :)

They’ll fit nicely as my PB wallpaper.

I suffer terribly from hayfever too, although I’m not allergic to cherry blossom or other flowering plants - my enemy is grasses of any kind and worst of all, hogweed. Attacks begin end of May and last until end of July.

I’ve tried all sorts of pills and sprays to ease the problem, all with absolutely zero success. However last summer I started using Zirtek and my hayfever cleared up to something akin to a light cold (as opposed to symptoms closer to influenza). It’s none drowsy, so I recommend you give it a go if nothing else has worked. (Needless to say I’m not a doctor and this is friendly, not medical, advice.) Incidentally Opticrom eye drops work wonders at relieving my itchy eyes.

You know - they do make a half decent background. Nice idea Michael. If anyone else wants them:

Get them here (zip). Just don’t us ‘em for anything besides a background or something with out giving me credit! ;)

The pictures are pretty, but in my opinon, there a little too plain. I mean, I see pictures like these all the time. Something exotic, colorful and wild that looks untamed is my style. Something lush and large. Yes. These pictures are nice, but an inspiring flower photo is one taken in such a way that you see it breathing and living. Something like that is what I call photography.
