Artwork: Faces and Angels

Face One
Face Two

I used to spend lots of time drawing, and I’d like to get back into it. It just seems like I’ve got so little time anymore for things like this. In any case, here are a few works of “art” I’ve created over the years.

I’m in the process of archiving things so you may see some odd posts like this, I hope you get a kick out of them.

Nice! I especially dig the Mucha-esness of the last one.

These are awesome. Are you using something like Adobe Illustrator or something?

Ah, yes… Drawing. My first love. At one point in my life, I toyed with the idea of being an illustrator, but my practical side said that wouldn’t pay the bills so I didn’t pursue it.

I used to be pretty decent, though years of non-practice has relegated my drawing skills back to doodles.

My most stolen illustration has been my 2001 gouache painting of a crushed pepsi can. Yes, this is a painting. Recently, one of my old illustrations got featured in a music studio’s website to represent a song. Which is nice.

Though I don’t regret for a second becoming a graphic/web designer. :-)

Wow, really nice work. I love your use of color. Were these part of a particular series you did or just ones you chose at random?

Sweet, high-style artwork you have there. I especially like the angel on the bottom… beautifully sinister.

Thanks everyone! To answer some of the questions, these are just doodles or drawings that I scanned into Photoshop and colored. There’s no real “series” – I just happen to like to draw angels and faces…I’ve got more, and when I’ve got time I’ll scan ‘em and post ‘em!

That third one is really deep. I love the colors and the contrast between the colors in the back to the black and white face. Very cool.
