The Artist: Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf
The Song: Ice Cream Truck
The Album: Big Shots
Released 2003
If you like old school hip hop you need to pick up Big Shots. This record is old school as it gets. Not in the sense that it “sounds old school” — it is old school.
This record was over 10 years in the making. Recorded before PBW started Stones Throw Records and before the amazingly talented Charizma lost his life way to soon in 1993, Big Shots is a showcase of what made early 90’s hip hop so great.
It’s fun, upbeat and you can dance to it. It’s even got all those great early 90’s samples and scratch breaks. The first time I heard it I thought I was listening to old Del or some Tribe Called Quest b-side.
With PBW amazing skills and Charizma’s talent it’s hard not to wonder what could have been. If Big Shots is any indication it would have been something pretty great.
Hip hop fans take a listen to “Ice Cream Truck” — a song perfectly suited to a warm spring afternoon — and pick up Big Shots! You won’t be disappointed.
Recommended if you like: Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, EPMD, Black Sheep, Digital Underground, Pharcyde

There’s a little bit of peanut butter wolf stuff in the itunes store, I’m particularly enjoying “Tale of Five Cities”. Also just noticed that the Stones Throw Records site is XHTML! Needs a little validation help, but cool non-the-less. I got suspicious when I noticed how quick the site loaded.
