Digital Web Redesigned

Well we’re finally up and running with our redesign.
It was a load of work and wouldn’t have ever gotten finished with out the help of many talented folks. We’re not done, there is still quite a bit of work to do and lots of very minor issues to work out. Please bear with us as we get any issues sorted out. Remember, we’re all volunteers here, doing this in our “free” time!
Thanks to everyone involved and special thanks to Chrisitina for the IA, Didier for the design, Craig for the markup, Cal and Rudy for backend “stuff”, Krista and Paul for keeping things going and Nick for all the grunt work and pulling the whole thing together.
It’s also the 8th anniversary of the original Digital Web. Quite a bit has changed in that time and Digital Web in one form or another was there through it all.
I hope y’all enjoy the redesign. Here’s to 8 more years.

Very good, and very needed. It looks, and works, a whole lot better. Good work.

Excellent job! The colors seem a bit conservative, nothing “bold” or “striking,” but I’m sure that was intentional. Once again, excellent job. Pats on the back are in order.
Will you be providing a break down on the how-to’s of the redesign? I’d love to hear some of the design decisions, in terms of give and take, as well as a practical tutorial or two.

It’s lookin’ good - much better than the old site. One thing that I’d like to see would be Douglas Bowman’s “sliding doors” technique to be used for the tabs, but that’s not a huge issue, as the text resizes fairly well anyway.

Nice, much better than the last iteration which really looked kind of sloppy. You guys need to lose the generic-looking stock images that go with each story though…”computers”,”guy in front of corporate glass building”, “abstract thingy”…they don’t really live up to the refinement of the rest of the site now.

Andrew – I think it looked “sloppy” because it’d not been touched since 1998 or so. As far as the photos – not sure what the plan for that is, but keep in mind we’re all volunteers so…

Holy hanna, that’s impressively clean. Stellar, as I seem to be saying all too often. Props to Didier and crew.

As one of my clients is fond of saying, “sweet nectar!” Very nice indeed. I’ve moved DWM out of my “Occasionally” bookmarks directory and into my “Daily” directory. Well done!
