I'm Speaking at Web Visions 2004

Sorry it’s a bit late in the game to announce it here, but this Friday I’ll be speaking at Web Visions in Portland, OR.
I found out a bit late and I’ve been scrambling to come up with a decent presentation. I think I’ve got something good and if you’re going to be at the conference by all means — come see me! I’ll do my best to entertain and inform, I promise.
My talk is going to be on the future of Web design (originally Doug Bowman’s topic, so thanks to him for letting me take it and run with it) and where we can take things once we’ve got a handle on Web standards, CSS and all the rest. I’m going to touch on things like user-centered design, goals, advanced (and future) CSS techniques and turning what you’ve learned into real world solutions. I’ll also be discussing what the future holds for the Web and Web related technologies.
It’s a great topic and I plan to have fun with it. Hope to see some of my readers at the conference.

I just heard about this conference. It sounds like it will be a lot of really good info and presenters packed into 1 day and I am trying to arrange a flight to be there. See ya there hopefully.

Do you know of a resource where the year’s (or upcoming) conferences of this sort are all listed? It seems that I must always rely on word-of-mouth, which while reliable, can sometimes come too late (as in the case of this weekend).

Damn. I’m even more pissed that I’m not going. Work finally gave me the okay and then dumped a bunch of work on me that’s suppose to be done by eod Friday.
Maybe I can buy you lunch and you can give me the low down on your talk.
Cheers

Keith,
Hopefully this isn’t too off-topic, but are you going to be at Digital Design World next week in Seattle. I thought maybe since it was in your backyard, you’d be there.
I’m really looking forward to the meeting and hearing the speakers, but I’m also really hoping to meet some of the other bloggers/designers out there that I know only from their website, but have never met in person.
Just curious.

Thanks y’all.
Kevin – I’m not going to have much time in Portland unfortunatley. I’m in a bit of a crunch.
chuck – No, unfortunatley I’m not going to be at DDW. I was asked to speak there, but I’m going on vacation to Hawaii pretty much right after I get done at Web Visions. Next time eh? ;)

Keith - I should have mentioned I live in Seattle and work downtown near Pike Market. Anyway the offer is still open whenever you’ve got time.
Cheers,

HEY! I will be there!
I am going with a co-worker of mine. I was originally just going to here Doug speak, but now this is a double treat. Is Doug still speaking also or is he not going to be there anymore?
Anyway, this is awesome. Can’t wait to see you there and here what you have to say. I’ll be the tall guy.
Cheers

Josh – I hate to be the the bearer of bad tidings, but Doug won’t be there. He’s laid up with a bad back – I know he really wishes he could be there, but I can understand also why he needs to take it easy.
ANYway, I’m going to do my best to fill in for half of him and the other half (I think) is being covered by Dirk Knemeyer who will be great. As well there are lots of other great speakers – I’m actually pretty amazed by the line up.
I’ll do my best to fill in, even on short notice, and I’m sure it’ll be a great day! See you then.

No worries…. Doug or you, either way, as long as its one of ya. I hope that Doug will be getting better. Will he be missing the Seattle event as well? Is this a serious problem or just regular back pain?
So yeah, we are leaving tomorrow afternoon to get down to Portland from Vancouver, BC by Thursday night and will be staying at my folks house in Hillsboro, close to Portland. We are then leaving that night to get back up to Vancouver. This will be my third weekend in a row I have gone down to Portland. First for the 4th of July at Fort Vancouver Washington, second for the Maroon 5 / John Mayer concert last weekend and now for the conference. At least for this trip my company is paying for gas and the milage.
Anyway, I can’t wait to meet you Keith. Dave Shea is meeting with me off an on right now mentoring me and then meeting you will be great. I should get one of those little autograph books like you get at Disneyland, haha.
Cheers

As much as I want to come, I am 12 hour apart from Portland :(
Will they broadcast it over the web *grin* ?.
By the way, When I want to make a post in your previous entry, I typed in a malformed hyperlink tag which make your whole blog entry become a link.
Fortunately I did not post it.
Not sure whether this is a firefox 0.92 bug *I have quit from using IE*

I wish i could make it, but unfortunately I am in the other part of the world. I hope to see you put up the slides from the presentation and a summary online once you return from the conference. :)
