Pimpin' SXSW 2005 Music

October 22, 2004 | Comments 2 Comments

As many of you know, I’ve got a healthy interest and appetite for music. I’m into all kinds, I love live shows and delight in nothing more than hearing a great new band or seeing an old favorite play a small show.

Many of you might be aware that I’m going to SXSW this year, and just like last year I’m going to stay the whole week and check out the music portion of the conference.

I wanted to take a second and let all the geeks, designers, Web monkeys and film buffs that are going to be attending the first part of the conference know how great the rest was. If you are into music, any kind of music, and if you are at all into live shows, you really need to see about staying for the rest of the week.

There are thousands of live acts, from those who are part of the “official” conference to all the crazy “side” shows. It’s four days of musical heaven. The people, the parties, the music make for one of the best times a music lover can have in their lives. I know last year will do down as one of the best weeks I’ve ever had — and of course I’m going back for more.

If you’re into music and have the means, do yourself a favor and check it out. Come see a show with me and mine, I promise you’ll have a great time.

Totally agreed, staying last year for the whole week and watching films and shows with Tantek and others was really the “long tail” of the conference for me.

Question for ya… Through work I’ve been approved for the travel and such for the Interactive portion of SXSW. (First time in 5 years I’ve had enough budget to travel out of state.) If you don’t buy a music badge, can you still pay your way into some of the music venues? I’ve been dying to go to that for years!
