Canada 2.0

I’m down. Only problem is Baja Canada is a bit too wide on the east side. It’d have to end at the Cascades.

Er, um, we have our own Bible belt ya know.

To make it work we’d have to pull a Chile and break off the whole western sliver. I’m down. (The east coasters can have their own.)

Welcome aboard! Welcome to ridiculously high taxes and free healthcare. Egos at the door, please. We’re a polite people, in general.

Hello fellow 2.0 Canadians! It’s a good thing we made the cut. I do agree that Baja Canada is a wee bit too wide. Of course, I used to lived in Northern Cal, so I have no worries about being stranded in UST.

I’m sure this type of thinking is the type that is going to move America forward. Perfect demonstration of what’s wrong with the Democratic Party of America.

This “type of thinking?” Are you kidding me?

Oh yeah, a sense of humor is going to wreck this country. Oh and it’s the democrats’ fault…Smug and snide comments from folks like you don’t contribute at all…

Give me a fucking break, if all we have to deal with is things like this we should count ourselves ridiculously lucky.

Or maybe you’re a bit blind to how bad the division is?

I figure I should explain myself about this. I realized this is a joke. I understand why people in general are so angry. Both side exchanged cheap shot but I think that the left stood out more notably for it (things like John Kerry calling the president a liar which is worse than anything I heard Bush say). I, personally, am incredible angry right now because of the poor performance of the Dems. Most of the people who know me don’t believe that but I desperately wanted them to win the senate. I don’t trust Bush with control of both the house and the senate but I don’t trust Kerry without control of the house and the senate. Sorry for “offending” you, Keith.

Andrew – Fair enough. I’ll tell you though, it’s going to be a rough four years for everyone if people don’t let the losers come to terms a bit. Innocent humor like this helps some of us who feel like our country is going in a direction we’re not comfortable with.

There seems to be a bit too much smug satisfaction on the side of the winners and that’s not a good sign for a country divided by a mere 4 million votes.

I’m not saying you think this way, but you talk about moving America forward. Let me point out that almost 1/2 of America (according to the vote) is angry right now – a little humor may go a long way to help many of us.

As a liberal-type person who lives in Texas with many other liberal-type people (I don’t know anyone personally or professionally here who voted for Bush and bumper stickers that I saw were about 50/50 Kerry/Bush), I am taking some offense to this map.

A little humor to dissipate the anger, sure. But Texas isn’t the problem. And it is an old and tired stereotype.

Those of us angry in the red states already have enough things to deal with without being painted with a broad brush.

Eris – I can see that, I’d probably feel the same way if I lived in Texas. Heck, I’ve got family (on both sides) there. I don’t think it was meant to be offensive to anyone, at least I didn’t take it that way. I know it’s hard not to take that kind of thing personally…

Hell if you take it outside the country we’ve all got the same problem. An American stereotype that doesn’t fit. So I know how you feel to some degree.

I’m not offended in the most angry form of the word, it was just more of a “hmmph, why single out Texas?”

Yeah. Well, probably just because Bush is from there is all…not ‘cause people don’t like Texas.

I love Texas. Sincerely.

Only question here…Why the Hell is “New America“‘s capital label in Albany, NY? Being from Upstate NY originally I can tell you that most of the state that isn’t in that little heavily-populated southeastern portion is a jingoistic right-wing wasteland.

Kudos to them leaving out a lot of inland California but I think eastern WA and Oregon should be in that boat.
