Free Mini Mac

What’s a blog for if you can’t spam people to help them get you a free Mini Mac?
Ok, lots of stuff, but I’m going to post about this anyway—worked for me last time when I was trying to get my free iPod. So, how ‘bout it? Help a blogga out, and hey, you may get one of your own!
Here is my Free Mini Mac referral link.
Thanks yo!

Very true, the comments up untill now are pretty unusefull. Gotta admit, he tries. The only thing i would have to mention is its just laid on too thick, but hey i’d give it a shot, it’s just that i know it will spam up a mailbox i submit. Still the offer is often very tempting.
Makes me wonder, what if i or anyone for that matter would submit an email that was allready submitted (without knowing that) would they label it ‘fault’ ?
If not, we could run a ring refer eachother each time and start receiving loads of goodies. :D

I tried to help you out, but the site kept kicking back a data base error.

Actually, as long as you say NO to all of their offers - between when you create your account and get to the “refer a friend” page - You will get no spam.
I have a FreeIpod and FreeMiniMac account and have never gotten spam at either of them.
I will say that when the sites were first released, they would only work properly with IE. Something about the .NET they were using to track the offers you selected and stuff. I am not sure if that is still the case or not.

I suppose if you don’t want comments like these, then perhaps you could write an article about the philosophy and reasoning behind why we should give you the referrer. How about the last referrer you get, get’s their referrer link in a later post, and it’ll attract people to hurry and do it.
Just a thought.

Well, I think the problem is the ponzi-like scheme that this perpetuates. Just saying “hey, hit the tip jar” is a bit more on the up and up, than “hey, help me get free stuff by signing up for stuff you don’t want. Don’t worry, you can cancel whatever it is at a later date”.

Mstyle – I haven’t got any spam from them. Not that it matters, I got so much spam I’d never notice a few more.
Kevin, Jeremy – Yeah maybe that’s it, I got an error also. I’ll try IE and see if that works.
Jeff – Or, maybe, I could hope that people will read the post, do some critical thinking about it, realize it’s not for them and move on. Write an article? For this? Not worth the effort obviously.
CM – The draw, i guess, would be for someone else to get their own Free Mini Mac. It actually works, I’ve got a free iPod to prove it. Cost me all of 10 bucks and a bit of effort, was worth it I think. Don’t agree…Don’t do it. Again, pretty simple. I can totally see why someone might not want to bother.
Look, I’m not trying to “take advantage” anyone, in any way. I’m just using my Web site to post my referrer, just like I sent an e-mail to my friends. I don’t expect anything from anyone. Sheesh.

Just an FYI for anyone looking to “take the system” if you will.
I’m in the “review phase” of my free ipod right now, and they check email addresses, credit cards, mailing addresses, all that kind of stuff very closely. From what I can tell, there is very little way to sneak stuff like this past them.
Just thought you’d like to know.

I’ve gotten a similar backlash from some people when I posted something like this up on the site. I rarely ask for donations, and the ads that are up are to pay for hosting, so I don’t make any money on the site. I’ve worked there for over 4 years, and occasionally I get perks, but it’s all in my spare time. So when I get attacked over these kind of things, it makes you wonder what people ever expect ouf of you. Do they expect you to go through life not ever getting paid or getting little perks? I can’t understand it, and I’ve given up trying to, to be honest.

Well, I definitely want a free mini mac and no one else referred me so I decided to help you out. I think I did everything right, but I never really got any confirmation that I completed my offer. I did the blocbuster one. I had been toying with doing the blockbuster rental thing anyway.

I clicked on your link and started setting up an account only to discover they don’t ship to Canada. I’d love to help, Keith, but they won’t let me. Too bad for you and me.

Thanks to those who chimed in positively – really this is more of a fun thing to me than anything else, if it doesn’t fly no big whup, but thanks for not taking it personal-like.
I’m surprised this doesn’t work in Canada at least and yeah, I think I can understand the US-centric angst. One day we’ll begin to see sites that can see the big picture and realize the world is a big place with lots of opportunities outside the US.
It’s kind of silly when you really think about it…oh well.

Hey Keith, I clicked through and filled everything out. However, I’m not genuinely interested in any of the offers. Will you still get credit? How exactly does it work (since you’ve done this before)?

Abel – Nah, you’ve got to complete an offer, but don’t do it just to help me out by any means. I’ve already got a pretty long list of people (thanks) and even though some of the offers are pretty painless (I didn’t want to do any either, so I chose the Blockbuster one and got last season’s 24) I’d not ask anyone to deal with something unless they wanted to or were planning on going for the Mini mac themselves…No worries!

Nah, helping out isn’t the issue. I really don’t mind. I’m pretty interested in getting a Mac Mini anyway. At the moment, I haven’t been able to convince the wife to get one. Getting it for ‘free’ would be sweet!
