It’s funny how things come full circle.
The other day I awoke, as I often do, with an idea in my head. I quickly jotted it down in my Idea Journal, and I began a search for inspiration to help me find a way to visualize and explain this idea.
After a few minutes I ended up, as I often do, at Veer’s Skinny, which is a great source for inspiration. From a post called, appropriately “Drawing Inspiration” there I was lead to another great site—Drawn—where I spent quite awhile.
Drawn has lots of great posts with links to other inspirational sites. One of which drew me back to a time, not so long a go where Flash ruled the Web and one little artist’s amazing piece of work entertained and inspired hundred’s of thousands and as a result, almost cost him $16,000.
It made for a great story and Nosepilot still stands as an amazing source of inspiration and my favorite Flash animation of all time.

I draw inspiration from everyday things. I’ve drawn inspiration from posters, billboards, a vivid description of something in a book, closing my eyes and “picturing”, in my head, the music playing on my stereo. Hell, I even drew inspiration from a cereal box for the print layout for an in-house PDF manual where I work.
The inspiration for my blog layout was inspired by, well nothing I know of, but the point is made.

Have you seen the maestro’s work post-nosepilot?
Mr. Sacui created this beautiful wordless online graphic novel (featuring a cow, some ducklings and a trumpeter in the park amongst other whimsy), every still frame an opus to light, colour and dynamics …
Here it is, not the version i saw ( i swear i saw it in HTML mid last year) , after some googling around:

(note click around nav and no back functionality)
His work reminds me to challenge my patterns in colour and form. Beautiful stuff.
