This weeks entry for the Album of The Week is going to be a quick one. I’ve got lots going on as I’m getting ready for a long weekend over at The Sasquatch! Music Festival.

They’ve got a great line up this year. Pixies, Modest Mouse, Kanye West, Wilco, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, Smoosh, Blue Scholars, Visqueen, and this week’s artist U.S.E.

U.S.E., or United State of Electronica, are one of my guilty pleasure bands. They’re just plain fun. The music is pretty much described as fun, party, dance, rave, summer music and while it doesn’t do much but move your butt, that’s pretty much all it’s intended to do. And it does that rather well.

I’ve seen them a few time and each time I’ve had a blast. It’s funny because they seem to open for the strangest artists. Last time I saw them it was with Ted Leo. And they’re opening up for The Hold Steady here in a few weeks. I think this just goes to show how infectious they are.

They’re from right here in Seattle but they’ve got a very Euro-rave type sound, at least to my ears, and they remind me of all the great times I had clubbing it up while backpacking through Europe years ago.

It’s fun stuff and they put on a great show. Oh, and did I mention, they’re huge in Japan.

And they were great at Sasquatch … like Daft Punk meets Eiffel 65. Ear candy.

the comment above, that it sounds like Daft Punk / Eiffel 65 is spot on.

I went to Sasquatch just for them. They’re my favorite live band that I’ve seen and I live near Seattle. I’ve seen them several times in concert. You can’t help but become engrossed in the happy go lucky music and intense performance. They’re fantastic. A must see.
Their CD is perfect for a sunny day road trip or backyard party music. And they’re such nice people, I’ve been pulled up on stage and sang in the microphone and talked after their shows. They’re the best.

I saw them at the gorge as well and it was amazing. The bad part is I always end up soaked in sweat by the end of there set, but it’s well worth it.

The phrase “Guilty Pleasure” implies that the fascination with the object of your desire is somehow shameful or that you wouldn’t want the information that you find pleasure in said object made known publicly.

You just posted on a website that you like them and that they do not suck - or in any way deserve the description “Guilty Pleasure.” Could you give English a rest and mangle some other language for a while?

Guilty Pleasure? – I know exactly what it means, and for the record, English is the only language I know how to mangle.
