I just wanted to take a second and point out a really cool Web site: GigPosters.com.
I saw these guys are this year’s Flatstock which was amazing. What they’ve done is taken a bunch of different rock and show poster designers and made a killer megagallery of, yep, gig posters. They’ve also got an ebay style “classified ads” system that lets people buy and sell the posters and other rock paraphernalia.
Like Tara McPherson’s work? I do. I totally want this Futurehead’s poster. Like The Heads of State? I do. They do a great Ted Leo poster that you can talk about there also.
Gigposters has all that and tons more. It’s so fun to browse their site (either by designer or artist) and look at all the great work there. You can even post comments on the posters and get info about various designers. Oh, and of course browse the classified ads for something cool to buy.
If you’re into art, posters or rock, you should check out GigPosters.com.

I sat outside Flatstock for nearly an hour on Monday but I couldn’t convince myself to go in. Great things are always said about it but that was my hour to relax.

Funny you mention them, I’ve been a member on their forums for some time now, and all I can say – GREAT!
If you need ANY help on printing, design or anything really, someone will answer your post, you won’t even hit the submit button. :)
And I especially like cause everything’s a little more for DIY guys and girls and that’s what I find really cool.
People are giving advice on homemade screenprinting, making your own colors, recomending good dealers for tshirts, vinyl whatever …
Oh, and the gallery simply blows me away everytime I visit.

Ooh, never noticed the forums before. Just added myself. What a coincidence – Aesthetic Apparatus, one of the premiere designers of gig posters, is here in Edmonton tomorrow for a little lecture! I can’t wait!

I’ve been a fan of gigposters for a while, especially due to the fact that a friend (Leia Bell) has her work featured on the site, and quite frankly, her stuff kicks ass.

Gig posters is a great site. Every show I go to (mainly widespread panic) I create and sell posters for the lot. Its very enjoyable! You meet tons of great people! Most of the posters on Gig Posters are lot posters designed by fans.
You can view some of my posters here: WP POSTERS.
If you like Gig Posters check out Expresso Beans. They have been around far longer but lack functionality compared to GP. Hooraay!

At last somebody has pointed out the drawbacks of blogging. I fully agree with your views and appreciate that someone shares my views.
