If by “worred about the term[…] web 2.0”, do you mean the same thing as “not caring whatsoever” ?
Every time I read someone commenting on web 2.0 and ajax, I smile as I realize I have less competition than I thought I did. Clients don’t know what these terms mean, and probably wouldn’t care even if they did.
As for ditching IM, it’s the ONLY way to live. I got rid of my IM client a year ago and have never looked back.

JD – “Clients don’t know what these terms mean, and probably wouldn’t care even if they did.” That’s what worries me. I’ve heard this stuff from clients! Otherwise, I’m right there with ya.

Very excited to see that you’re looking for freelancers - I submitted my info but the contact form didn’t have any feedback. If you didn’t recieve it, please let me know.

Like Brandon, I pressed the contact button and it looked like it sent to MT that says “comment pending.” I hope that means it got sent! :-)

“AJAX application” is a reality. I’ve seen it on a recent project… I’ll hold comment on whether it’s a good thing or bad thing. ;)

re: contact feedback. Sorry about that. Rest assured we’re getting the e-mails. We’ll be fixing that soon.

speaking of email - you’re on dreamhost, have you been having issues often with their email servers giong down or ‘password corruption’?
i just signed a client up with them and bam! just after the dns switches i can’t access email. this client has a lot of email coming in and out so naturally the client is very annoyed. I would rather not switch hosts after a week. i know this isn’t a dreamhost post, but i was wondering if you could comment on your expierence with them?
thanks

Philip – Actual Blue Flavor doesn’t use Dreamhost as of right now. We’re switching to Dreamhost from Textdrive because *their* e-mail was always down. Dreamhost has been fine for me…they’re service has been pretty good as well, I’d give ‘em a call.

The thing that bugs me about the hype & buzzword frenzy surrounding AJAX is how many times I hear people say “programming in AJAX” as if it were a language unto itself. It’s not really even a framework. Give an abstract concept a name and all of a sudden it has life.

I was on Dreamhost for years. (For some reason we Seattle folks liked Dreamhost). I’d suggest moving to LunarPages.com though. Dreamhost became a nightmare with support and lack of features (at the time I left, no SuPHP, no phone support). I now have many domains with LunarPages.com and many more clients with them. For a low cost host, LunarPages.com is superior to Dreamhost in many ways.
AJAX, lots of hype, but we’ll see?.. I’ve used more than one AJAX app when I wish the back button worked. http://www.kryogenix.org/days/2005/03/11/applicationsButton
IM, never used it, never will : ) - but I’m one of those dudes that sets Outlook to NOT check mail automatically. It’s too distracting.
“Web 2.0” - this article defines it well http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/oreilly/tim/news/2005/09/30/what-is-web-20.html although, talking about “Web 2.0” is a little academic. “Web 2.0” is not a phrase I use with clients.

the ‘looking for freelancers’ link is broken. looks like it only works with an appended ‘www’.

I received a 404 error, couldn’t find the mt-comments.cgi page…
should I from this site?

Sorry, we were switching our hosting provider, that’s why there were a few errors. It’s all fixed now.
