Tomorrow it’ll be exactly two weeks until I leave for the great city of Austin and SXSW. As I’m taking in the whole thing (I actually went for the Platinum Pass this time) I’ll be there a full 11 days. Ahhh, I’m excited.
Until then things are going to be pretty crazy for me. The whole Blue Flavor team will be there so we’ve had to set up a few deadlines right before we leave so that we can take full advantage of the break. That makes for some crazy hours, lots of work leading up and a few more crickets here at Asterisk.
Before it goes dark over here though I wanted to point out a few SXSW related items.

I really want to buy a wristband but times are a little tight and I already got an Interactive pass. Would you say a wristband is pretty much required to see the big bands like Built To Spill and such?
Bowling is going to kickass, I’m going to be hittin’ up The Union bowling alley before you guys get here so I can learn it’s tricks and where the beer is poured from.

Justin – Yeah, you’ll need at least a wristband to get into most shows. You can buy tickets at the door for some, and I’m not sure who has priority–the ticket holders or people with wristbands–but you’d be stuck there. Whereas a wristband will get you into lots of things.

Justin: If last year is any indicator, a wristband is no guarantee of getting into any of the bigger showcases with well-known headliners. I had a badge last year and my girlfriend had a wristband. I waited in lines for big headliners (Elvis Costello, Aimee Mann), and my girlfriend never got in. Your only real chance with packed shows is to show up 2 hours before the band you want to see, and even then there’s no guarantee that a few hundred other wristband holders won’t already have the same idea.

Wilson – Very true. Even a badge doesn’t mean your 100% in. In fact, I don’t even bother with the really big shows, prefering to hit smaller shows at night and hope the big acts I want to see are playing during the day or at parties, etc.

Wow, I knew it was big but I had no idea it was *that* big.
I just found out that the first set of wristbands already sold out ($130/each, limit 2) and the second set ($150/each) is due to sell out promptly.
Oh well, I got my interactive badge :)

Keith, I have to thank you and Blue Flavor for (1) sponsoring the event and (2) attending the event. This thing has gone farther than I could have ever imagined, and I believe the ass-kickage will be just as fun. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been so excited about something, so I’m looking forward to having one of the best times ever.
As for kickball, I’d love to go to that too, but I haven’t heard anything about it either.

Bowling is going to be a major blast - I’m so psyched about it!
I’m also looking forward to finally getting a chance to meet you, I’ve been an asterisk reader for years.

Unfortunately I didn’t make it on any of the teams for the Avalonstar Bowling Extravaganza. But I guess I’ll go for the meet&greet anyway. Just like Anton I’ve been an Asterisk for quite a while now. See you there.
