Here is a list of software that I use on an everyday basis.
This is pretty essential. If you're a designer, either for print or Web it's something you probably alreay have in your toolbox, and if not you probably will have it sometime soon. It's got everything you need, the premium edition of Adobe Creative Suite 2 combines full new versions of Adobe Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, GoLive CS2, and Acrobat 7.0 Professional software with new Version Cue CS2, Adobe Bridge, and Adobe Stock Photos.
The Mac alternative to Visio, Omnigraffle is a really great product. If you're an Information Architect or anyone who needs to work with diagrams, flow charts or maps, this is the tool for you. I use it all the time and it's great for things like user flows, site maps or even just illustrating hard to grasp concepts. It's also worth noting that Omnigraffle's sister product, Omnioutliner is a great and very useful too as well.
Another essential, this time for Web desingers and developers. While not every product in this suite is the best, and each has a few problems, combined they make for a pretty powerful and failry easy to learn group of tools. I use Dreamweaver quite a bit for site management and although I prefer more lightweight text editors, like BBEdit, Homesite and Textmate, it does a pretty good job there as well. Regardless, most professional Web shops will expect their people to be familiar with these products. Oh and Flash is pretty useful too.
The highly recommended Dreamhost!
